Kicker's Hideaway Subwoofer Named CES Innovations 2011 Design and Engineering Award Honoree
KICKER today announced that it has been named an International CES Innovations 2011 Design and Engineering Awards Honoree for the new KICKER Hideaway™ Compact Powered Subwoofer System for vehicles. Products entered in this prestigious program are judged by a preeminent panel of independent industrial designers, engineers and members of the media to honor outstanding design and engineering in cutting-edge consumer electronics products across 35 product categories.

Kicker Hideaway
The new-for-2011 KICKER Hideaway Compact Powered Subwoofer delivers surprising low frequency output from a remarkably small enclosure, setting a new standard in mobile plug-and-play bass performance and convenience in a vehicle. At just over three inches high and 14 inches deep, the Hideaway combines a 150-watt amplifier, 6.5-inch long-throw subwoofer, and 8-inch square passive radiator (patent pending), adding bass to any vehicle and fitting in the tightest locations. It also provides a quick-connect power harness and nylon straps for secure installation and simple but fast removal.
“KICKER is extremely honored to be considered by the Innovations panel,” said Charlie Schultz, KICKER Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing. “Our president Steve Irby was intimately involved in the design process with the KICKER Research and Development team, and they nailed it with the Hideaway Powered Subwoofer. We’re very pleased to see that our peers agree with this acknowledgement.”
The Innovations entries are judged based on the following criteria: engineering qualities, based on technical specs and materials used; aesthetic and design qualities; the product’s intended use/function and user value; unique/novel features that consumers would find attractive; and how the design and innovation of the product compares to other products in the marketplace.
The prestigious Innovations Design and Engineering Awards have been recognizing achievements in product design and engineering since 1976. It is sponsored by the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA)®, the producer of the International CES, the world’s largest consumer technology tradeshow.
KICKER’s Hideaway Compact Powered Subwoofer System will be displayed at the 2011 International CES, which runs January 6-9, 2011 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The Innovations Design and Engineering Showcase will feature honorees by product category in the Grand Lobby of the Las Vegas Convention Center and will also be featured at CES Unveiled: The Official Press Event of the International CES on Tuesday, January 4.
