New Kenwood eXcelon Power Amplifiers Feature Thin Chassis Profile And Outstanding Performance
Kenwood announced the introduction of three new power amplifier models that combine high performance with a new thin chassis profile and small-footprint design. These three “XR-Series” amplifier models were developed specifically for the Kenwood Excelon mobile electronics retailer network.
To achieve the thinner chassis profile, Kenwood designed each amplifier for the highest efficiency of space. This was made possible by reducing the footprint of the power supply by 40% compared to a conventional class AB design, made possible in part by the use of lower-profile power supply capacitors reduced height by 33%. Angling the internal heat sink by 45-degrees reduces height by 25% without sacrificing any heat dissipation.
Lastly, the new XR-Series monoblock power amplifier is the XR600-1 ($400.00 suggested retail price), a compact and low-profile model that might just be the perfect subwoofer amplifier.
Moving the wiring connector strip to the inside of the amplifier and accessing all wiring connections through a removable panel on top of the amplifier reduces size, protects all connections from damage and results in a clean, professional installation. The choice of low tolerance, high quality components results in an extremely accurate, clean sound quality that becomes audible through the use of the highest quality loudspeakers.
A new five-channel power amplifier is the XR900-5, which offers a single-chassis system solution with exceptional performance. The XR900-5 delivers 75 watts x 4 for full-range applications and 600 watts x 1 for driving a subwoofer system. Variable high-pass and low-pass filtering provides just the right frequencies to drive the highest quality component loudspeakers, and an adjustable 40Hz bass boost delivers additional thunder when needed. Smaller in size is the XR400-4, a four-channel model which delivers 100 watts x 4 or 200 watts x 2. The XR400-4 is a no-compromise audio performer, with high-pass and low-pass filtering switchable at 50Hz - 200Hz or 2.5k – 10kHz, 12dB/octave. This allows the user exceptional bandwidth control which optimizes component loudspeaker performance like no other amplifier.
Lastly, the new XR-Series monoblock power amplifier is the XR600-1, a compact and low-profile model that might just be the perfect subwoofer amplifier. The XR600-1 delivers 600 watts of RMS power, has a built-in low-pass filter from 50Hz – 200Hz and comes with a 24dB/octave crossover slope that provides pinpoint bass accuracy. A 40Hz bass boost with +18dB of gain is included, making this amplifier ideal for the most demanding high-output applications.
All power output figures mentioned above are 2-ohm rated.
