Kenwood Launches Premium CD Receivers With High Performance On-Board Technologies

Kenwood USA Corporation is introducing a pair of CD receivers that combine classic Kenwood durability and performance with built-in technologies from iBiquity and Parrot.

The KDC-HD942U ($300 suggested retail price) is Kenwood’s first in-dash CD receiver with a built-in HD Radio tuner and iTunes tagging, multicasting and high performance audio features. In support of the dramatically improved AM/FM sound performance delivered by the HD Radio technology, this model incorporates Kenwood audio performance features such as 4-volt preamp outputs and digital sound processing (“Sound Excellence”). A 5-line LCD display allows for viewing of multiple text lines transmitted through the digital HD Radio channels, giving the user much more information at a glance. Finally, the iTunes Tagging function allows the user to “tag” a song heard through the HD Radio tuner, send the song title data to their connected iPod and then access that song via iTunes at a later time for purchase.

The KDC-HD942U is not only iPod ready, it includes a unique EQ feature that extracts the best possible sound from the iPod, iTouch or iPhone. A new “Favorite Memory” function allows the user to easily program and directly access specific selections from multiple sources such as favorite satellite radio stations, often-dialed phone numbers over Bluetooth, favorite albums from an iPod, specific programming over HD Radio, or any combination (optional Bluetooth, iPod or satellite radio accessories may be required).

The KDC-BT742U ($270 suggested retail price) combines legendary Kenwood audio performance with built-in Bluetooth technology designed by industry-leader, Parrot. The integrated Bluetooth functionality is seamless and allows the user to make and take calls from the CD receiver faceplate controls and conduct conversations in a safe, hands-free manner. A 13-segment display shows complete phone numbers as well as more artist and title information from iPod, satellite radio or HD radio (optional iPod, HD Radio or satellite radio accessories may be required). An illuminated front-panel USB input is perfect for use with high-capacity flash drives or for plugging in an iPod, while an illuminated front-panel 3.5mm stereo mini-plug input can take an analogue input from any other music source. The KDC-BT742U also has the “Favorite Memory” function for direct access to multiple sources, phone numbers, radio stations or iPod files.
