2013 Buick Encore Luxury Crossover To Be Available With Bose Sound System And Active Noise Cancellation Technology
Today, Bose announces that the all-new Buick Encore luxury small crossover is available with an optional Bose sound system, and — for the first time in a Buick — Bose technology for reducing unwanted noise in the vehicle cabin.
The Bose sound system, custom-engineered for the Encore’s interior, provides driver and passengers with a spacious, lifelike listening experience. Bose Active Noise Cancellation technology, integrated into every Encore, allows Buick to target and reduce unwanted engine and powertrain noise in the cabin — while preserving the crossover’s desirable sound characteristics.

Bose engineers teamed with Buick early in the vehicle’s development to create the Bose system. Using proprietary tools and techniques, Bose strategically placed high-performance, acoustically tuned speakers throughout the Encore to ensure an exceptional listening experience for every seating position.
A lightweight Richbass woofer, housed in a customized enclosure, is beneath the vehicle’s rear load floor to avoid taking up valuable cargo space. The Bose Richbass woofer is compact but powerful, and at just 5.25 inches in diameter, it delivers the deep performance of a larger speaker without the added weight or size of comparable offerings.
Bose Active Noise Cancellation technology, integrated into every Encore, allows Buick to target and reduce unwanted engine and powertrain noise in the cabin — while preserving the crossover’s desirable sound characteristics.
The Bose sound system also features two 1-inch tweeters, one in each A-pillar; two 6.5-inch woofers, one in each front door; and two 5.25-inch wide-range speakers, one in each rear door. System electronics include a Bose digital amplifier with six channels of custom equalization and digital signal processing to deliver music that is clear, full and detailed, and natural sounding speech without distortion.
Refined Cabin Experience: Bose Active Noise Cancellation
Bose Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) is a lightweight and efficient solution to in-vehicle sound management available only from Bose, helping car makers limit costly and less precise mechanical approaches to noise reduction. Programmed specifically for the Encore, Bose ANC gathers information from the engine, while strategically placed microphones in the cabin monitor powertrain noise. When targeted frequencies are identified, an acoustically opposite signal is produced by the audio speakers to cancel the unwanted sound. And it operates continuously, whether the audio system is on or off. The result is a quieter ride, with a signature sound only found in the Encore.
