Alpine Ships Wireless Marine Commander Remote Control Kit
Alpine today announced that its MC10 Wireless Marine Commander Kit is now shipping to stores. Designed specifically for the harsh marine environment, this remote control kit gives boaters convenient system control over their Alpine marine head unit, so that they can spend their time enjoying the water.
The MC10 Wireless Marine Commander Kit features a RF (radio frequency) transceiver brain and one MC1 wireless mountable remote control. It is compatible with Alpine’s two marine head units, the iDA-X100M Marine Digital Media Receiver and CDA-9886M Marine CD Receiver. In addition to controlling the head unit, users get full command and search capability over popular entertainment sources for boating, such as iPod and satellite radio. (Separate tuners, adapters and subscription fees may be required.)

Alpine MC10
“The MC10 is an essential component to an Alpine marine sound system. This unit gives users total control over their system from one or more locations on their boat for a flexible and customized sound system experience on the water,” said Stephen Witt, vice president, marketing, Alpine Electronics.
The 3.75-inch wide MC1 wireless remote control offers a three-line dot matrix LCD screen. Source information, source icon, a song counter and artist information are always displayed, along with the choice of song or album information. Volume levels, controlled by the MC1, and subwoofer level adjustment, controlled by the head unit, can also be viewed on the MC1’s screen. The high-contrast display makes it easy to read even in direct sunlight, and the buttons and screen are backlit for easy viewing at night. The convenient Quick Search function enables users to find their favorite songs fast and easy on any source.
Designed specifically for the harsh marine environment, this remote control kit gives boaters convenient system control over their Alpine marine head unit, so that they can spend their time enjoying the water.
Additional MC1 remotes, sold separately, can be added to an existing MC10 system and mounted in various places on the boat. This enables boaters to control their sound system from anywhere in the vessel. The MC10 system works as a network, allowing RF communications to hop from commander to commander to return to the head unit. Each extra MC1 remote has a unique RF ID, so that it does not interfere with another MC10 system.
As with all Alpine marine products, the MC10 is certified for marine applications and can withstand water, salt and sun abuse. All Alpine marine products go through American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) tests for ASTM B117 salt spray/fog, as well as ASTM G154/D4329 UV resistance. The MC10 and MC1 commanders are also IPx6 water-resistance rated.
In addition to the MC10 and MC1, Alpine’s 2009 line up of marine sound system solutions includes: two head units (iDA-X100M and CDA-9886M); three digital amplifiers (new PDX-5M, PDX-1.600M and PDX-4.100M); three speaker sets (new SPR-M70 7-inch component, SPR-M700 7-inch coaxial and SPS-M600 6.5-inch coaxial); a subwoofer (SWR-M100); and RUE-M1RF and RUE-M1EX remote controls.
Pricing and Availability
The MC10 Wireless Marine Commander Kit is available for $230 SRI. Additional MC1 remotes are available at $150 SRI each. Both products are available at authorized Alpine dealers.
