Rock Out To Live Performance Quality Sound Produced From Pioneer's New Ts-a Series Speakers

Pioneer Electronics Inc. today launched its next generation TS-A series speakers featuring the highly touted basalt rock speaker technology. Inherited from last year’s high performance TS-D line of speakers, the basalt rock composite in its speaker cones make them extremely light and rigid, a combination necessary for increased output in lower bass frequencies. The basalt enhanced cones are matched with a soft dome midrange placed in a wave guide, resulting in an open and smooth sound output that delivers an incredible sound quality experience like being at a live music performance.

“We received such great reviews on the basalt rock technology introduced last year that Pioneer wanted to integrate that popular technology into our new line of TS-A speakers,” said Larry Rougas, vice president of marketing and product planning for the mobile business group of Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc. “Consumers will hear the difference in these speakers, which deliver clearer sound with more punch and impact. The new TS-A speaker models are available in 6” x 9” and 6½” sizes in both Pioneer and Premier brands, including features such as:

• Carbon Graphite IMPP Interlaced Aramid / Basalt Fiber Cone – Basalt rock is melted and spun into long basalt fibers and mixed in with carbon graphite and aramid composites. This high-tech cone process increases rigidity without adding weight, resulting in deep bass response. The new cone provides the “open & smooth” sound quality found in the TS-D speakers, with the strength and durability needed for the harsh mobile environment.

• Soft Dome Midrange – Found on seven models, the soft dome midrange is placed in a specially designed wave guide that further improves high frequency response and controlled dispersion, resulting in a more realistic and natural sounding speaker. Three other models feature a lightweight paper cone midrange that delivers increased impact.

The new Pioneer and Premier TS-A speakers start at a suggested price of $80.
