Pioneer Releases TS-W3003D4 12" Subwoofer And Four GM-A Amplifiers
Pioneer Electronics Inc. today released its new TS-W3003D4 Champion Series PRO subwoofer and line of GM-A series amplifiers that are designed to match today’s consumer trends of driving more fuel-efficient vehicles and using pre-made subwoofer enclosures.
The latest TS-W3003D4 incorporates key technologies, including Pioneer’s patented IMPP composite seamless cone, reinforced drive cone, dual spiders and large double stacked magnets, to produce powerful bass output utilizing both customized and prefabricated enclosures. Pioneer’s highly popular GM-A series amplifiers were also revamped in size, look and performance with added convenient features such as a turn on/off input sensor, bass boost and low/high-pass filters for quick and easy installation.

Pioneer TS-W3003D4
“More consumers are looking for faster ways to install an amp and subwoofer, and they’re doing this by purchasing ready-made enclosures and using the factory speaker wires in the car to connect outboard amplifiers,” said Ted Cardenas, vice president of marketing for the Car Electronics Division of Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc. “Unlike our previous model, the TS-W3003D4 subwoofer is engineered to perform in preassembled speaker boxes, while the new GM-A amplifiers takes on a smaller footprint for increased installation flexibility.”
Champion Series Subwoofer
Made to perform within differently sized, readily available prefabricated enclosures, the 12-inch dual 4-ohm voice coil Champion Series PRO TS-W3003D4 features Pioneer’s seamless IMPP composite cone for high strength and durability. The exceptionally strong cone can produce massive air movements without flexing or buckling, [which can cause added distortion.
The subwoofer’s cone is enhanced with a dual-layer elastic polymer surround, reinforced drive cone, and dual spider to ensure crystal clear bass output. For further reliability and great sound quality, the subwoofer uses a four-layer copper voice coil with an aluminum former that improves heat dissipation for higher input power handling, and air vents in the metal basket construction below the spider to alleviate pressure build up in the chamber and cool the voice coil.
Today released its new TS-W3003D4 Champion Series PRO subwoofer and line of GM-A series amplifiers that are designed to match today’s consumer trends of driving more fuel-efficient vehicles and using pre-made subwoofer enclosures.
The Champion Series PRO TS-W3003D4 subwoofer is rated at 600 Watts (RMS) / 2000 Watts (Max) and will be available in November with a suggested retail price of $180.
GM-A Amplifiers
Pioneer’s next generation of GM-A series amplifiers was completely redesigned to be more compact in every dimension, including height, to increase physical installation flexibility. Available in four models, the amps incorporate a smaller chassis, slimmed down significantly in size from the previous generation to take up less space in the vehicle.
- GM-A6604 (4-channel), 760 Watts MAX
- GM-A4604 (4-channel), 480 Watts MAX
- GM-A5602 (2-channel), 900 Watts MAX
- GM-A3602 (2-channel), 400 Watts MAX
Both GM-A6604 and GM-A5602 shrank 28 percent from previous models, while the GM-A3602 is down by 35 percent to fit in tight areas of the car such as under seats and in extremely small trunks. For added installation convenience (for example - connecting to factory installed stereo systems), each model is built with an input sensor that triggers the amplifiers to automatically turn on (and off) through the speaker connections, making the installation process faster and eliminating the need for additional wiring.
Each model also features a variety of audio adjustments for increased sound quality. The more powerful models, GM-A6604 and GM-A5602, include variable bass boost that can be set to levels between 0 to 12 dB for optimizing bass levels according to preference and music style. The GM-A6604 also features variable adjustments from 0 to 12 dB and the GM-A5602 provides three step adjustments (0 dB/6 dB/12 dB) for precise control and overall audio balance. Additional enhancements throughout the line include low and high pass filters, RCA inputs and speaker level inputs.
Pioneer also refined the cosmetics to create a smoother and modern design utilizing black cast aluminum heat sinks and a bold red accented body, ideal for custom installations where the amplifiers can be seen.
All four GM-A series amplifiers are currently available with suggested prices ranging from $80 to $160.
