Pioneer Introduces The 2010 Line-Up Of In-Dash Receivers
Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc. today expands its line of in-car entertainment products that enhance the driving experience through innovative integration of digital media, HD Radio® Technology, iTunes® Tagging, iPod Video, Bluetooth® and more. The 2010 line-up of in-dash units includes two digital media receivers and seven new single CD receivers.
“Pioneer understands that the method consumers use to transport their music and video collections into and out of the car environment has shifted in recent years,” said Ted Cardenas, director of marketing for the mobile business group of Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc. “Compact, mass storage devices that hold enormous amounts of music and video files are becoming a standard for today’s consumer. Our entire 2010 line-up of in-dash receivers embraces this trend and the new MVH products show Pioneer’s commitment in creating unique products dedicated to digital media playback.”

Pioneer MVH-P8200
Digital Media Receivers
The popularity of digital media players such as the Apple® iPod1 continues to change the entertainment landscape for everyone. For the first time, Pioneer introduces a category of in-dash receivers designed with digital media playback from the iPod, USB storage devices2 and Secure Digital (SD) memory cards as the primary sources.
Pioneer’s MVH-P8200 and MVH-P8200BT are single DIN receivers that feature a built-in 3-inch TFT screen as the digital interface for audio and video capabilities. Complete control of Apple’s iPods/iPhones via USB is accomplished with Pioneer’s highly regarded 7-way Rotary commander and a new on-screen display was created so all features of a connected iPod or iPhone can be fully accessed and controlled.
Both units offer playback of MP3, WMA and iTunes AAC music files via USB and SD memory card. The USB port is located directly on the front face of the receivers and the SD memory card slot is located discretely behind the removable front face.
Pioneer’s 2010 single CD product offerings expand upon Pioneer’s history of incorporating high quality radio reception, media connectivity and convenience while maintaining the high sound quality their products are known for.
To enhance the listening experience, particularly for compressed digital formats, Pioneer equipped the digital media receivers with its Advanced Sound Retriever (ASR), a patented technology that helps to restore the musical details lost when compressed music files are created. The inclusion of an 8-band graphic equalizer provides the ability to adjust the sound of the system to suit the vehicle and listener, while dedicated hi-volt (4 Volts) pre-amp outputs for front, rear, and subwoofer add to the overall system building flexibility.
For additional connectivity and convenience, the step-up MVH-P8200BT features built-in Bluetooth3. When paired with a compatible Bluetooth cell phone, users can enjoy safe, hands-free communications enabling them to hear the conversation through the vehicle’s speakers while their voice is broadcast through the included microphone.
Single CD Receivers
Pioneer’s 2010 single CD product offerings expand upon Pioneer’s history of incorporating high quality radio reception, media connectivity and convenience while maintaining the high sound quality their products are known for. The new line of receivers offers Pioneer’s first built-in HD Radio receiver products and integrated features including USB, iPod/iPhone connectivity and Bluetooth hands-free communication.
The popularity of HD Radio Technology has grown over the years due to its CD-quality sound, multicast programming and subscription free broadcasts. Pioneer now offers two fully built-in HD Radio models that require no additional hardware or accessories, the flagship DEH-P7200HD and DEH-P5200HD. The DEH-P6200BT and DEH-P4200UB are also HD Radio Ready using Pioneer’s optional GEX-P20HD HD Radio tuner. All four models also feature iTunes tagging capability by storing the song information included in an HD Radio broadcast signal (optional HD Radio tuner required on certain models) or FM stations with RDS (using RDS data where available). With a simple press and hold of Pioneer’s rotary commander, users can tag the currently playing song and transfer the tagged music to a connected iPod to preview and purchase later, when the iPod is connected to a computer.
The convenience of Bluetooth hands-free communication is built into the DEH-P6200BT and also available with the DEH-P7200HD, DEH-P5200HD, and DEH-P4200UB when connected to the optional CD-BTB200 module. When paired with a compatible Bluetooth cell phone, users can enjoy safe, hands-free communications enabling them to hear the conversation through the vehicle’s speakers while their voice is broadcast through the included microphone.
The entire line of 2010 single CD receivers, from the entry level DEH-1200MP to the flagship model DEH-P7200HD, exhibit a sleek, modern design, with cosmetic and functional enhancements that ensure improved ergonomics and in-dash integration. Pioneer’s signature rotary commander combine with either LCD or Organic Electroluminescence (OEL) displays, providing superior operation for swift retrieval of music files and ease of use when scrolling through audio and function menus.
Additionally, Pioneer’s new single CD players deliver the following key features:
- iPod Control – The DEH-P2200UB and higher models have built-in iPod control with an enhanced interface that includes
