New Alpine SWR-T10 and SWR-T12 Subwoofers Combine High Performance With Value
Today’s subwoofers have come a long way from their big, bulky predecessors. Alpine takes subwoofer design one step further with a new addition to its Type-R line up: two high-performance, thin subwoofers. In addition to the new thin options, Alpine has completely redesigned its popular Type-R 10-inch and 12-inch subwoofer models to handle more power and excursion for maximum ground-pounding bass and excellent efficiency.
“Alpine’s new Type-R thin subwoofers are an incredible value for the technology and performance they deliver,” said Mike Anderson, assistant vice president, sales and marketing, Alpine Electronics. “These subwoofers combine thin installation convenience with true high-output subwoofer performance.”

Alpine SWR-T10
Alpine is continuing its Type-R 15-inch subwoofers, as well as its top-of-the-line Type-X and value-priced Type-S lines.
New Type-R Subwoofers
Winner of a CES Innovations 2010 Design and Engineering Award for the In-Vehicle Audio category, the new SWR-T10 (10-inch) and SWR-T12 (12-inch) Type-R thin subwoofers are the ideal solution for car audio enthusiasts who crave a slim profile without compromising performance, at price points that will not drain their bank accounts.
In addition to the new thin options, Alpine has completely redesigned its popular Type-R 10-inch and 12-inch subwoofer models to handle more power and excursion for maximum ground-pounding bass and excellent efficiency.
With surface mounting depths of 3.25 inches for the 10-inch model and 3.5 inches for the 12-inch model, the thin subwoofers are ideal for installation in tight spaces such as pickup trucks, compact cars and even in door panels. An advanced motor and suspension design delivers the highest X-max (greater than 16mm), SPL output and sound quality in the flat subwoofer category. Both models offer 600W RMS power handling, which makes them the perfect subwoofers to power Alpine’s new second-generation PDX digital amplifiers.
The redesigned, fourth-generation Type-R subwoofers boast several enhanced features to achieve even cleaner, deeper bass with great low frequency extension and clarity. This popular subwoofer line consists of the 10-inch (SWR-1023D and SWR-1043D) and 12-inch (SWR-1223D and SWR-1243D) models. A shallower surface mounting depth – 5.875 inches for the 10-inch models and 6.375 inches for the 12-inch models – means more installation flexibility for the ideal sound system set up. The 65 mm voice coil allows for increased power handling to 600W RMS for best performance with Alpine’s new PDX digital amplifiers. Exclusive third-generation High-Amplitude Multi Roll (HAMR) engineering delivers cooler operation, longer life and tight, accurate bass, while ultra-long linear excursion provides dynamic, realistic sound. The single piece cast frame and shorting sleeve provide minimum inductance variance and reduced thermal compression. The radial fins are designed to cool the entire motor assembly, resulting in maximum cooling of the voice coils to reduce thermal compression.
Type-X Subwoofers
The Type-X series provides a highly accurate, sonically dynamic experience for true audio enthusiasts. These high-end subwoofers feature maximum output efficiency thanks to an ultra-light Kevlar® parabolic cone with Rohacell® core, delivering high strength without added weight. A large 80mm six-layer aluminum voice coil offers high power handling and low power compression. The easy-access insert terminals and voice coil configuration jumpers make them easy to install and their concealed mount gaskets create a sleek cosmetic look.
Type-S Subwoofers
The Type-S subwoofers are ideal for consumers looking for an economical upgrade to their factory sound system without compromising tight, accurate bass. In addition to a shallow mounting depth for versatile installation, these subwoofers boast an advanced airflow system featuring a stamped steel basket design with perimeter venting and leg venting cooling, so that bass plays longer while the subwoofer stays cool.
