Alpine Electronics Presents Six New Single-DIN Head Units 2011
Alpine today introduced six new single-DIN CD head units: CDE-121, CDE-122, CDE-123, CDE-124SXM, CDE-125BT and CDE-126BT. With compatibility for a variety of media sources, the new head units offer something for everyone.
CDE-123 And CDE-122 – Pandora® Control
Two of the new units, the CDE-123 and CDE-122 CD receivers, feature Pandora internet radio control and playback through the Pandora app for the iPhone®. Both head units have dedicated buttons for thumbs up/down rating system and use a rotary knob to search for Pandora stations. Users can easily bookmark songs for later purchase or create new Pandora stations right from the head unit. The CDE-123 CD receiver has a built-in amplifier with CEA-2006 power rating of 18W RMS x 4 (at CEA-2006 power ratings), a three-band parametric EQ, and three sets of preouts (4V). It is equipped with a 3.5 mm audio input jack and front and rear USB ports to connect additional external storage devices or to play music from two iPods or iPhones simultaneously. It is compatible with Bluetooth® wireless technology for hands-free calling (separate module required).
Alpine CDE-121
The CDE-122 CD receiver shares several of the features found in the CDE-123. It connects to an iPhone, iPod® or other digital device via a front USB port or the 3.5 mm audio input jack. Users can control an iPod or iPhone from the head unit directly, or when in Passenger Control Mode, passengers can control playback from the portable device itself. The CDE-122 features one pre-amp output and a three-band parametric EQ.
CDE-123 And CDE-124SXM – Siriusxm Control
SiriusXM Satellite Radio connectivity is available with two receivers, the CDE-123 and CDE-124SXM. These two models are the first single-DIN aftermarket head units compatible with the new SXV100 SiriusXM Connect Vehicle Tuner Kit. The SXV100 provides seamless in-vehicle integration of SiriusXM programming in a compact and easy-to-install package. Features such as iTunes® Tagging; SiriusXM Replay™ for pause, rewind and replay of up to 30 minutes of live SiriusXM content; and Song Alert™, Artist Alert™ and Game Alert™ are available through the SVX100. The CDE-123 uses the separately sold SXV100, while the CDE-124SXM consists of the head unit and SXV100 bundled together.
CDE-125BT And CDE-126BT – Bluetooth Wireless Technology
For hands-free calling capability, the CDE-125BT and CDE-126BT have a built-in Bluetooth module, powered by Parrot, which provides excellent sound quality and wide phone compatibility. Both head units come with an external microphone that can be placed closed to the driver, for optimal sound quality. The Alphabet Search function lets users quickly find contacts from the phone’s address book. The CDE-125BT plays back MP3s via CD or USB. With the addition of the KCE-433iV cable (sold separately), an iPod or iPhone can be controlled through the head unit. Other external storage devices can be connected via the front USB and 3.5 mm audio input. Providing more playback options, the CDE-126BT comes with an iPod cable and plays back MP3, MWA and AAC files. It also has 2 pre-amp outputs. Both head units have a built-in 18W RMS x 4 amplifier (at CEA-2006 power ratings) and can be upgraded with the KTP-445 Head Unit Power Pack, which boosts the head unit’s built-in power without the addition of an amplifier.

Additional Head Units
Also new for 2011, the CDE-121 rounds out the line-up as a budget-friendly offering. This CD head unit provides iPhone or iPod control from the head unit itself or from the device itself via Passenger Control Mode. Other external storage devices can be connected using the front USB port. The CDE-121 has a two-band EQ, one 2-volt preamp output, a 1-line LCD display, and is compatible with the Head Unit Power Pack.
Continuing for 2011 is the iDA-X305S. This mech-less receiver is devoted to digital media sources and is specifically designed for control of Pandora internet radio via the iPhone app. It uses a double-action rotary encoder knob for Pandora’s iconic thumbs up/down rating system. Pressing the exterior ring of the knob and turning it to the right activates the thumbs up command, while a turn to the left activates the thumbs down command. Thumbs up/down icons are displayed on the iDA-X305S’s 2.2-inch color TFT LCD screen, which also shows artist name, song name, album name and album art. Songs can be bookmarked by pressing the “Preset/Bookmark” button on the face of the iDA-X305S. For more audio options, SiriusXM or HD Radio™ service can be added to the iDA-X305S (Separate tuners, adapters and subscriptions required.) For hands-free calling features, the iDA-X305SBT version comes bundled with a Bluetooth wireless technology module.
Also continuing for 2011 is the CDA-117. Featuring top-notch sound quality, the CDA-117 features a 24-bit Burr-Brown DAC, three pre-amp outputs (including one 4-volt) as well as built-in time correction, EQ and crossovers. In addition to iPod or iPhone control via the included cable, users can add on SiriusXM Satellite Radio, HD Radio, Bluetooth wireless technology, the Head Unit Power Pack, and/or an IMPRINT audio processor. (Separate tuners, adapters and subscriptions required.) The CDE-100 also carries on as a budget-conscious solution.
